“The Magical Light of the Champlain Valley”

About Us

In his early youth he spent time in hunting and birding in the old rice fields in South Carolina low country. Many a summer were spent at a family camp on Lake Champlain enjoying the birding, sailing and the majesty of the surrounding mountains. After graduation from college, he ventured west exploring Lake Tahoe where he tended bar in the casinos, worked in the time share industry and property management for the purpose of allowing him to learn how to ski and enjoy marathon competition and bicycling. The time share industry took him to San Diego, Palm Springs and eventually to San Francisco where he first acquired a taste for coffee. A common thread being the beauty of the places visited and a great appreciation for the natural beauty of this country. The sight of seeing a hawk flying in the sky still brings back the memories of his early days of birding. As an amateur photographer he struggles with the Sisyphean task of catching beauty as it rapidly passes

Reginald met his wife Jenny in San Francisco. Jenny, fluent in French, was born in Belgium and migrated to Florida at the age of nine where she obtained a Master’s in education and taught school. On a sabbatical she visited San Francisco and never left. In San Francisco Jenny with an office in the Pyramid building overlooking the Bay worked in the relocation business and later as personnel recruiter. Looking for an adventure Jenny followed Reginald to the Champlain Valley where they built their home. She still cannot believe winters can be so long and summers so short.

Over the years the flower beds have slowly enlarged, and the wildflower fields are successful some years and not others. The constant is the natural ebb and flow of the seasons and the constant changing landscape.
